The driver, Marc LaQuon Payne, 44, needed to be restrained with a stun gun after the incident in Phoenix, Arizona early on Tuesday morning.

All three officers survived the crash, but one was left with a broken leg.

Other CCTV video taken outside the QuikTrip petrol station shows a red sedan car parking near a pump.

The front of the motor is pointed towards the shop entrance, where the police car is parked.

Then, in a scene reminiscent of a horror film, the car flicks its lights on and speeds towards the officers as they make their way back to their patrol SUV.

The near-deadly smash is so powerful that one officer -- who was on his first day of training -- is seen spinning through the air.

Another officer dives out of the way, while a third appears to be struck head on by the speeding sedan.

It smashes into the SUV before breaking through the shop window.

The officer who was left unhurt was able to get to his feet and run around to the driver's door.

He can be seen pulling Payne out of the car before using a stun gun to restrain the aggressive assailant.

The three unnamed officers include a 41-year-old sergeant who broke their leg, a 36-year-old officer who had minor injuries and the 33-year-old trainee who suffered a head injury.

All three were treated in hospital along Payne, who is believed to have been under the influence at the time, reports.

Payne will face three counts of of attempted first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault based on how close his care came to hitting workers in the shop.

"We are confident that this is an intentional act," Phoenix Police chief Joseph Yahner said.

"Our officers were targeted. I'm outraged by this incident. This stuff needs to stop."
