International Women’s Day 2022: How Google Doodle is celebrating with an animated video
INTERNATIONAL Women's Day falls on March 8 every year and celebrates women's achievements throughout history.
In 2022, Google has taken the opportunity to mark the date with an animated Doodle.

What is International Women's Day?
International Women's Day (IWD) is an annual celebration of women from around the world.
The day is not a country, group, or organization-specific event - it belongs to all groups collectively everywhere.
The day has taken place for over 100 years and was first celebrated in August 1910, when an International Socialist Women's Conference was organized to precede the general meeting of the Socialist Second International in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Delegates - 100 women from 17 countries - then decided to hold an annual event to mark the freedom and promote the suffrage of women.
More than a million people participated in 300 celebratory marches in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland.
According to the renowned feminist, journalist, and activist Gloria Steinem, once said, "The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights."

How is Google celebrating International Women's Day?
The Google Doodle on March 8, 2022, takes a journey into the sacrifices women made during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Through an animated video, it highlights the everyday woman who contributes to the happiness and wellbeing of herself and others.
Shown through a lens of different cultures, Google Doodle shows women who make an impact daily - the mom who is working from home or the motor engineer who is passing her knowledge down to the younger generation.
Google said this Doodle "is connected by the common thread of how women show up for themselves, their families, and their communities".
The video illustrates the women who have opened the doors for younger generations and have shown what it means to pursue what makes them happy.

Today’s Doodle was illustrated by Doodle Art Director, Thoka Maer.
She said this doodle was inspired by the lasting impact life during the pandemic had on women across the world.
Maer said: "The reality of the last couple of years has forced women to shift focus, adjust priorities, and make sacrifices to be there for others who need them.
"I want all women to be able to truly choose the lives they want to live and receive all the respect they deserve.
"A stay-at-home mom makes the whole world for her children.
"A CEO makes for innovation and keeps her employees motivated and happy.
"The vagabond artist delights strangers and indulges in her freedom.
"Driving a truck, fighting for women’s rights, going to school, or making a meal.
"We all wake up in the morning and we all have a purpose, big or small. It all matters."
What is a Google Doodle?
The first-ever Google Doodle was designed by co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin and honored The Burning Man event in Nevada.
Subsequent Doodles have been designed by other people and a specific team of people called Doodlers.
