FLOOD WARNINGS

UK weather warning as Met Office issue flood alerts for east of England – here are the places affected

Warnings are in place for much of the country, with more rain expected today

THE UK has been hit by torrential rain and flash flooding, causing travel chaos after half a month of rain fell in a matter of hours.

The east, south and south-east of England have been the worst hit - but this morning amber and yellow warnings have been put in place up and down the country.

Recently, we've enjoyed balmy temperatures of up to 34C - but temperatures are now set to plummet at the weekend.

Met Office meteorologist Martin Combe explained: "The storms are quite slow moving so it means the amounts are starting to build up over time, so we may get higher figures and localised flooding.

"The showers and thunderstorms are going to carry on for quite some time moving slowly north and eastwards, remaining around London through the morning and all afternoon in East Anglia.

"They will eventually clear off to the east, but it will be cool behind them. While it won't be any colder than average it is going to feel a lot cooler than it has been."

So, it looks like the rain won't be letting up just yet - but is where you live affected by today's ongoing weather chaos? Here's a full list of amber and yellow warnings issued by the Met Office this morning:
