M25 lorry crash and flash floods bring traffic to standstill as closure between junctions 21 and 21A causes chaos
Some lanes were also closed as a result of excess surface water
DRIVERS have been stranded for hours today after flash flooding and a serious accident caused a standstill on the M25 - which was turned into a RIVER following heavy downpours.
Disruption is expected until 12:30pm after a section of the anti-clockwise carriageway between Junction 21A and 20 was shut following a collision between two lorries and a Mini, which occurred around 5:20am.
Some lanes were also closed as a result of excess surface water due to torrential rain which battered the area last night.
A spokesman for Highways England said: "There was a collision involving two heavy goods vehicles and a car between junction 21 and 21A of the M25 at 5.20am.
"Lanes three and four were closed due to standing water that had run off onto the motorway.
"Lanes one and two were also closed due to the collision, preventing traffic from moving anti-clockwise.
