Militant junior doctors’ leader dances at her lavish wedding while wearing Jeremy Hunt mask

A JUNIOR doctors’ leader who backed five-day strikes dances at her wedding wearing a mask of Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt.

Orthopaedic registrar Roshana Mehdian, 30, mocked him while clutching a bottle of bubbly after she wed fellow medic Simon Staffell, 34.

She also encouraged guests to don the masks at Stapleford Park Country House Hotel in Melton Mowbray, Leics.

Mr Hunt has clashed with junior doctors over new weekend contracts.

Roshana, of Wandsworth, South West London, was escorted from Whitehall after trying to confront him in April.

A British Medical Association source said she was a key strategist behind the NHS strikes.

An insider added: “Roshana got married at the end of August – and she was keen on guests wearing the Jeremy Hunt masks.

“It was obviously a joke but it shows, that even on her wedding day, she wanted to make a political point.

“Roshana was crucial in proposing the five day strikes.

“She's quite powerful and politically ambitious. She's extremely left wing and a fierce socialist."

Speaking in a feature about herself in Stylist magazine Roshana, who was brought up in Nottingham and Scotland, said: “I’m the doctor you see if you’ve broken a bone and need an operation.

“Right now I’m one of many voices in the UK working to publicly communicate the concerns of frontline junior doctors.”

And in a written newspaper piece in May, she said: “I’m told the Army develop incredible bonds with their colleagues in battle that last a lifetime. Doctors, too, I believe develop these bonds and never more than over the last six months of this ongoing contract dispute.”

Yesterday she said: “I don’t think there’s any comment to make on this.”
