Voters also believe ministers are focusing more on long term plans and spending less time scoring political points.

The poll found eight per cent more people than in 2014 believe politicians are doing their best for the country.

The Institute for Government survey spoke to more than 2,000 Brits.

Populus interviewed 2,035 British adults online between August 31 and September 1.
