AN Air India plane has been hit by a bomb threat after an anonymous caller warned an explosive had been planted on board.
Passengers on board the Air India flight AI729 were left petrified when they were evacuated from the plane following the bomb scare.
An unknown caller phoned Netaji Subhas Chandra International Airport in Kolkata to warn an explosive had been planted on the flight.
The call was received at around 8am local time at the airport.
It was claimed a bomb had been planted on board the Guwahati-bound flight, which was ready for take off.
All passengers were evacuated as search operations were carried out.
The aircraft was taken into the isolation bay and investigated.

Search operations were conducted by the Central Industrial Security Force and airport authorities.
It has since been cleared by security and is fit to take off shortly.
Air India announced passengers re-boarded the aircraft.
It has since taken off with a delay of an hour and 55 minutes.
The airline's official Twitter page added: "We appreciate the co-operation of our pax."
Police have traced the caller, a woman who stated she was a resident of Rajarhat in Kolkata.
This is the second hoax call incident to the airport this month.
Three phone calls were made threatening to blow up the airport on September 7.
