Search for two Brits on board plane missing in English Channel called off
THE search for two Brits on board a light aircraft which went down in the Channel on Saturday was called off yesterday.
The Piper PA-28 was one of six aircraft on a flying school’s day out to northern France.
But it emerged they hit a snowstorm which forced some to turn back.
A source said: “The Piper went straight in, and this may well have caused the crash.”
The plane was owned by financial services boss and part-time flying instructor Guy Wakeley, 51.
He was not on board.

Coastguard and French vessels and aircraft carried out a search but there was no trace of survivors or wreckage.
All the aircraft, linked to South Warwickshire Flying School, took off from Wellesbourne Mountford Airfield.
Pilots and passengers on the other planes were helping with inquiries.
