Turning on airplane mode on iOS 10 can ‘stop phone ever getting signal again’
Some iPhone 7 owners running the new iOS10 software have experienced the issue
TURNING your iPhone onto airplane mode could stop you from ever getting signal again, users have reported.
Some iPhone 7 owners running the new iOS10 software, which was released last week, have found that turning the device onto flight mode prevents them from getting signal even when the setting is turned off.
And while some phones have been fixed by simply restarting the device, others have had to be swapped at the Apple Store.
The exact cause of the issue is not yet clear - but Apple's official advice is to restart the phone, then remove and re-insert the phone's SIM card.

It's also not certain if the issue is exclusive to iPhone 7 models, or if it affects all handsets which have iOS10 installed.
One iPhone 7 user, Yasser El-Haggan, explained on YouTube: “All of a sudden today my iPhone 7 Jet Black model started not getting internet service – can’t make outbound calls or receive calls – even though it showed four bars.
“I then put it in Airplane Mode, and back off, then it showed no service. It got pretty warm in the top right hand corner.”
