Frank James, 62, was named a person of interest in the shooting during a news conference by law enforcement on Tuesday afternoon.

He has not been accused of anything related to the crime. The NYPD said that they just want to speak with him.

Online James said that he had been through the city’s mental health system and experienced emotional violence that would make someone “go get a gun and shoot."

James’ YouTube channel, which now sits at over 500 subscribers, has multiple lengthy videos where he speaks on race, politics, and gun violence.

Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell called his posts - which led officials to tighten security for New York City Mayor Eric Adams - “concerning.”

A Glock 17, three Glock magazines, shell casings, bullets, two detonated smoke grenades, two undetonated ones, a hatchet and a U-Haul key were found at the shooting scene, police said.

The key led investigators to a van, which was found in Brooklyn, however, its connection to the case is currently unknown.

MESSAGE TO THE MAYOR

In a video addressed to NYC Mayor Eric Adams, James appeared to warn the lawmaker he was “doomed to fail.”

He then talks specifically about issues of mental health, which Adams has spoken about in the past.

In another video where James appears to be driving a large truck, he claims that he has suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder.

He says he has been "in crisis" and used illegal drugs.

James also said that he spent time in the city’s mental health treatment centers, claiming there was violence going on in those places.

'PROPHET OF DOOM'

Much of James’ content appears to express his dislike for Black people, using racial slurs on multiple occasions.

He talks about his desire to kill and at one point describes himself as the “prophet of doom.”

“I am the prophet of doom. That’s my original name, the prophet of doom. That’s what I’ve been calling myself since I’ve been on YouTube.”

James posted his opinion on recent events such as Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars and the Supreme Court nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson.
