Teacher and student have bare-knuckle fight at school
The fight was recorded on a mobile phone - but nobody tried to break it up
A TEACHER and pupil got into a fist fight in a school hallway after an argument over being late turned violent.
The lengthy brawl between a 16-year-old boy and the male teacher, 44, was captured on camera at Lincoln High School in north-east Philadelphia in the US.
According to reports, the teen was late for the lesson and the incident turned ugly after he was told off. The schoolboy now faces charges.
"They got in the hallway and they just started fighting," student Roniesha Little told
Cops say the fight began after the teen smacked the teacher in the face.
"It's outrageous because of the simple fact that the video was going on for like two minutes straight but ain't nobody break it up," said Sianni McLaine, another student.
"Everybody was just sitting there."
Many pupils defended the teacher. Laura Berry said: "He was trying to detain him if you couldn't see in the video.
"I don't get why nobody tried to break it up."
The teen is charged with simple assault, aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person. The teacher has not been charged but could face any disciplinary action after an investigation.
"We take the safety of our students and our teachers very seriously," said H. Lee Whack Jr., a spokesperson for the Philadelphia School District.
"Violence of any kind in our schools is unacceptable, and will not be tolerated. We are working in cooperation with the Philadelphia Police Department and we are conducting our own investigation to gather all of the facts regarding this incident."
In June a PE teacher viciously attacked his ex-girlfriend colleague in the middle of the school playground.
