'ROUND THEM UP'

Deport all illegal immigrants to a secure guarded island outside the EU, says Hungarian PM Viktor Orban

Hungary reportedly wants EU member states to be able to set their own migration policies

It was called by PM Viktor Orban in protest at Brussels’ plans to force member states to take in a set number of refugees

ILLEGAL immigrants should be rounded up by the European Union and put them in guarded camps overseas, Hungary’s hardline PM declared today.

It came amid claims Hungary would demand the EU rip up the Lisbon Treaty to allow member states to set their OWN migration policies - in a potential boost for Brexit negotiations.

In incendiary comments, Hungarian PM Viktor Orban said it was unfair for the EU and Berlin to try and distribute migrants across member states.

And he stormed: “Those who came illegally must be rounded up and shipped out.

“This could be an island, it could be a coastal area in North Africa, but the security and supplies of that area must be guaranteed by the EU in its own interest.”

Speaking to a Hungarian news website, he said: “We must set up large refugee camps outside the EU, with armed security and financial support provided by the Union.

“Everyone who came illegally must return there. There they can file for asylum.”

Mr Orban has previously labelled migrants flooding to Europe “poison” and suggested hanging “pigs heads” on a razor wire constructed on Hungary’s border.

Hungary is holding a referendum on October 2 on whether the country should accept or reject EU quotas to resettle migrants.

Government sources claim Hungary could then push for fundamental amendments to the Lisbon Treaty.

The British embassy in Budapest yesterday complained to the Hungarian Government after it issued an official leaflet describing parts of London as “no-go areas” because of sky-high immigration.
