Shocking anti-Semitic slogans scrawled across student’s T-shirt at Freshers’ Week event
Messages including 'the Holocaust was a good time' were written on clothing at the event
SHOCKING racist and anti-Semitic slogans were scrawled on students' T-shirts at a university sports club's Freshers' Week social, it has emerged.
Slogans including "don't speak to me if you're not white" and "the Holocaust was a good time" were written on clothing at the event hosted by an Exeter University snowsports club.
Another student reportedly had a swastika drawn on their T-shirt.
Photographs from the off-campus event - where students were invited to scribble comments on each others' T-shirts - appeared on the website, which reports primarily on life and politics in Israel and Palestine.
Dimi Reider, +972, reporter said pictures of T-shirts worn at the Fresh Tracks Freshers' Week social were posted on Facebook by a Palestinian student.
The student wrote "Making light of genocide and white privilege is not 'banter'"
Student publication said the event had been billed as “the rowdiest bar crawl in Exeter”.
A spokesman for the Russell Group university said: “The University of Exeter is an inclusive and friendly environment where all students are welcomed. Anti-Semitic, racist or bigoted behaviour in any form is not tolerated.
“An investigation was launched as soon as the university learnt of this incident.”

The university's Athletic Union, which oversees sport on campus, said it has taken measures to ensure this does not happen again and apologised for any offence caused.
Josh Callander, University of Exeter Athletic Union President, said: “The Athletic Union operates a zero-tolerance policy towards racist or bigoted behaviour.
“We have banned any future sporting social events which involve the practice of students writing on white t-shirts.
“We want to prevent anything like this happening again, and I would like to apologise to anyone affected.
“We have run more than 200 sporting taster sessions for new students this month and we are very disappointed that the unacceptable actions of a few individuals has overshadowed what has so far been a very successful Fresher’s Week.”

Lauren Fry, president of the snowsports club told +972 "Comments like these are not tolerated within our club.
“Unfortunately, as only eight committee members, we cannot be responsible for everything written by other students, especially when there is over 1,000 people.
“Timepiece were asking people to leave or change if they were seen in the venue with any abusive slogans on their T- shirts.
“As far as I’m aware no complaints were made.
“We apologise if we offended anyone and we feel appropriate action was taken on the night to deal with these type of slogans if they were seen on anyone at our social.
“Snowsports has a zero tolerance policy for these actions and we will be contacting our members in due course to express this.”
