Islamic extremist who murdered Muslim shopkeeper for ‘disrespecting Islam’ calls for beheadings in YouTube video from behind bars
Twisted Tanveer Ahmed, jailed for knifing peace-loving Asad Shah, urges killing of other members of the same Ahmadi sect
AN Islamic extremist who murdered a Muslim shopkeeper for “disrespecting the Prophet” has recorded a chilling YouTube video from behind bars calling on supporters to behead those he believes insult the faith.
Tanveer Ahmed, 32, is believed to have used an illicit mobile phone to record the twisted rant from inside Glasgow's Barlinnie Prison, where he is serving life for killing Asad Shah.
In a series of YouTube speeches he celebrates the brutal murder and urges fellow fanatics to slaughter more followers of the Ahmadi sect of Islam, yelling: "Cut off their heads, cut off their heads, cut off their heads.”
Bradford taxi driver Ahmed drove 200 miles to butcher peace-loving Mr Shah, 40, at his Glasgow newsagents in March.
Ahmed claimed his victim, an Ahmadi Muslim, had been “disrespecting the prophet Mohammed” in messages on his own YouTube account.
The killer's most recent hate-filled rant was posted on September 7, .
In it he celebrates sending Mr Shah “to hell with the help of Allah, the prophet, angels and saints”.
He says in Urdu: “I have the honour of sending him to the hell for ever.”
Ahmed goes on to call Ahmadi Muslims “frauds” for their beliefs - which hold the sect’s founder as a prophet following Mohammed - and accused them of “contaminating the faithful”.
He goes on to urge followers: “There’s only one punishment for insulters: cut off their heads, cut off their heads, cut off their heads.”
It was one of five messages, uploaded to the same YouTube account since May.
Prison chiefs and police have launched a probe into the messages, which could constitute a hate crime or incitement to violence.
Police Scotland said: “We have been made aware of the communications and are currently assessing the matter.”
The Scottish Prison Service said he it does not comment on individual cases but added: “We work closely with Police Scotland to detect and prevent crime. We make overt recordings of phone calls made in prison.”
