Jealous ex jailed after stabbing rival who sent pic of him in bed with former lover
Furious Liam Broadbent, 24, flipped over the image of hospital worker ex Lauren Bellerby, sent by new lover Sam Smith, 18
A JEALOUS ex who stabbed his love rival after being sent a snap of him and his former girlfriend in bed together has been jailed for nearly nine years.
Furious Liam Broadbent, 24, flipped when he received the image of Sam Smith, 18, and his hospital worker ex Lauren Bellerby, 23, at a house party.
He sent a series of angry text messages to Smith and the pair agreed to settle their differences at an 8am showdown, the court heard.
The pair were joined by pals and began to brawl at the side of the road in Billingham, Teesside, last December.
Horrified parents doing the school run watched as the men slugged it out before Broadbent pulled a knife.
He stabbed Smith in the abdomen and left him with a lacerated spleen and internal bleeding.
A pal of Smith's grabbed the blade and knifed Broadbent's friend below his ribs leaving him with life-threatening injuries.
Both men were left on the ground bleeding from their injuries as frantic parents rang 999 for help.
