Spanish cops arrest fugitive Brit paedophile wanted for sex crimes against pal’s son

POLICE in Spain have arrested an alleged paedophile Brit fugitive.
The unnamed man was held on Thursday by officers on the Costa Blanca acting on a European Arrest Warrant.
They say the suspect sexually abused a child repeatedly between October 1994 and the spring of 1995, after befriending the youngster's dad.
He is also accused of targeting a second boy shortly after.
The Brit faces 10 years behind bars if found guilty of the charges.
He is wanted by police in Newcastle and faces extradition after a closed court hearing in Madrid.
Spanish police today released pictures of the arrest.
A Spanish police spokesman confirmed: "The Spanish national police arrested a British national on foot of a European Arrest Warrant on September 22.

"Between October 1994 and the spring of 1995, the arrested man struck up a friendship with his alleged victim’s dad and took advantage of that friendship to befriend the child.
"He arranged meetings with the boy at his home where he allegedly sexually abused him in assaults that became more serious with time.
"He subsequently managed to get the first boy to come to his house with a friend in exchange for alcohol and cigarettes and that youngster allegedly became the second victim.
"He has been charged with eight counts of sexual assault against a minor, a crime which carries a 10-year prison sentence."
