UK weather: Sunny 21C hits TODAY as beach-goers head to the coast to make the most of six-day heatwave
BRITS have today hit the beaches up and down the country with temperatures hitting 21C as part of a six-day heatwave.
Temperatures sizzled in Wales and southern England, with the mercury climbing to the low 20s.

The welcome news comes as Friday saw temperatures hit 23.3C - well above the 18C on the Balearic island of Ibiza – and just a shade off being the hottest day of the year so far.
And Brits today made the most of the weekend sun, basking on beaches and in parks.
Met Office meteorologist Annie Shuttleworth said: "It's likely we'll see those warm and much warmer-than-average temperatures across the UK.
"UV levels will likely be high."
Temperatures are likely to rise even higher on Monday, reaching a peak of 23C in London although the Met Office warned it won’t be “clear sailing” as fronts with rain bearing clouds will move across the country at times.

Things will get even hotter as the week continues, with temperatures expected to hit a high of 26C, making it hotter than Mexico.
According to the Met Office's forecast, tonight will be generally dry with clear spells however variable amounts of cloud cover will tend to build in from the west and patches of mist and fog will form.
The Met Office said: “Early low cloud and drizzle across SE England slowly giving way to brighter skies but also a few showers.
“Elsewhere, most parts dry with warm sunny spells and light winds. A few light showers developing across Scotland.

“Most parts dry with clear spells. Low cloud developing across parts of England and spreading westwards through the night. Turning chilly in the northeast.”
On Sunday, the Met Office said that clouds would lift with sunshine emerging, but there is the chance of some unsettled weather in the evening.
It said: “Early low cloud soon clearing to leave a fine day with warm sunny spells across most areas.
“Turning windier and cloudier in the far northwest with a little rain.”
Any early patches of mist will soon lift and clear.
It will then be dry and bright during the morning with spells of sunshine however variable amounts of cloud cover will tend to build bringing a chance of a few isolated showers.

It will be cloudy across Scotland and Northern Ireland with outbreaks of rain, heavy at times.
However, the soaring temperatures will see the pollen count rise which is bad news for hay fever sufferers and those with other allergies.
Allergy UK said "If people start to become symptomatic they should start taking their medications early so they will be most effective when the pollen levels really peak.
"If they have them already that is great, otherwise talk to a pharmacist who will be able to help."
Bookies are now making it odds on that it will be a record-breaking May.
Bookmakers Coral now have odds of 4-5 for this month to end as a record hot May in the UK.
The firm is also odds-on at 1-2 for this summer to be the hottest ever in the UK, while it is just evens for the highest UK temperature of 38.7C being broken in 2022.

"It is going to feel like summer has come early in the UK over the next few days. As a result of soaring temperatures, we have slashed the odds on this month ending as a record hot May," said Coral's John Hill.
"Looking further ahead, we now make it odds-on to be a record hot summer and we are not ruling out the UK having its highest ever temperature this year," added Hill.
