A BRITISH woman who set to marry a Syrian refugee she met in Calais has denied claims that fellow British female volunteers are travelling to the migrant camp for sex.
Speaking to , Sarah Gayton, who met fiance, Hamoude Khalil, when she volunteered at the Jungle camp, said she was alarmed by claims made by a male volunteer last week.
She added: "The idea of sexual exploitation by volunteers is shocking and, in my experience of the camp and the controls the charities put in place to ensure a code of conduct, it doesn't happen."
Sarah adds that she 'definitely wasn't looking for love' when she travelled to France last year.
She said: "We are two people that fell in love and remain that way.
"We could have met at work or in a pub but we didn't, we met in Calais."
