Prince William and Canadian prime Minister Justin Trudeau laugh and joke as they bond on visit to refugee charity
A BROMANCE between Prince William and Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is blossoming.
The pair appeared to hit it off immediately when Prince Will touched down on Canadian soil, with the pair trading jokes over the first two days of the royal visit.
Trudeau, who met the royal couple on their arrival to Canada, was even spotted joking with the second in line to the throne during the official speeches.
The pair continued their friendly conversation, often caught chatting without their wives nearby as they walked between engagements.
On the second day of the royal couple’s visit, the Prime Minister and his wife Sophie Gregoire, hosted the visiting couple for lunch.
The pair have a lot to bond over.
Trudeau, 44, has three children and has become accustomed to life in the spotlight after becoming involved in politics.
His wife, Sophie, has even been named as Canada’s answer to the Duchess of Cambridge, with the women both style icons in their respective countries.
Meanwhile, the Duke of Cambridge, 34, has just started his own family with wife Catherine, the young couple becoming one of the most recognised couples in the world.
During the visit Justin Trudeau, praised the young royal couple, saying they were “strong advocates” for young people.
He added that they were determined to help, “whether it’s speaking out about cyber bullying, creating more opportunities for young people to lead in their community through sport coaching, or helping children and young people affected by addiction in their families.”
Trudeau was not Prime Minister when the Royal couple first visited Canada five years ago, but seemed eager to have the couple – and their children – back again.
Speaking on the Royal couple’s arrival, Mr Trudeau said: “As any parent who has travelled with children knows, it’s a whole different experience when you bring your family with you.”
Prince William also addressed the thousands gathered for their arrival, saying: “Catherine and I are delighted to be back in Canada.
“That is why we are so pleased that George and Charlotte can be with us in Canada this time around, beginning their own lifetime of friendship with this wonderful country.”
Trudeau particularly highlighted their visit to the Immigrant Services Society of British Columbia, where the high-profile couples spoke with refugees about their experiences.
In a series of gushing tweets after the visit, Mr Trudeau wrote: “Thanks to the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge for a wonderful visit. Enjoy the rest of your trip – I know Canadians will make you feel at home.”
He earlier wrote: “Sophie and I were honoured to welcome William & Kate, the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge, today in Victoria!”
He also shared photographs of the royals on their meetings with a number of Canadians.
