JOHN Prescott labelled former home secretary David Blunkett a “bloody catastrophe” after a fiery debate with Piers Morgan over the Labour party.
The New Labour bruiser looked ready to explode as he took on the presenter during an interview for Good Morning Britain.
The pair clashed over Mr Blunkett – who had denounced the re-election of Jeremy Corbyn as a "catastrophe" which has set the party on course for annihilation at the polls.
It led to co-presenter Susanna Reid apologising to viewers for the testy exchange, telling them both to “move on”.
Lord Prescott was annoyed Mr Morgan was talking to John McDonnell about the claims – rather than the Shadow Chancellor’s upcoming speech on the economy.
As soon as the section started he said: “You can put your money on it it'll be about punching, is that why you're down in London and not up here?"
Attacking the media for not focusing on Mr McDonnell’s policy proposals, he said ‘”can we shut up at the moment” and move on.
“So they can hear what we stand for, not what you guys interpret,” he added.
Mr Morgan told him: “Can I just say how thrilled I am to have you on the show today, your pugnacious style is something I hugely admire."
The ex-deputy prime minister hit back, saying: “Thanks you very much, keep talking about the Labour party not Blunkett will you.”
After Mr Morgan attempted to reply Mrs Reid was forced to intervene, waving her arms and saying: “Alright let’s just move on!”
To which Lord Prescott finished with “He’s a bloody catastrophe!”
Earlier Mr McDonnell had said Lord Blunkett was "completely out of touch", and called on him to respond to the Mr Corbyn's call for unity.
He said: "David has been fairly critical of Jeremy all along, but I'm sure he will calm down.
"There is a real spirit here of people getting together and uniting and thinking that we may face a general election soon so we have to get our act together to form not just a good opposition but to get ready to go into government."
Lord Blunkett head earlier denounced Mr Corbyn's supporters as Marxists who were "disconnected from the broad electorate".
He told the Daily Mail: "I'm in despair at this calamitous situation. I honestly cannot see how we're going to get out of it."
