Who is Levi Bellfield's girlfriend?

While behind bars at HMP Frankland Bellfield, who is father to 11 children with at least three different women, struck up a relationship with an unnamed woman.

Not much is known about the identity of Bellfield's girlfriend - now fiancé - other than she is a blonde visitor who is in her 40s.

The woman visits hammer killer Bellfield at least once or twice a week for two hours at a time.

In 2022 Bellfield's fiancé spoke out - anonymously - to insist she was "not ashamed" of her relationship with the twisted criminal.

In an interview with , the woman claimed Bellfield is "not a monster" and has "changed".

As well as Milly, Bellfield murdered students Amelie Delagrange and Marsha McDonnell.

He was also convicted of the attempted murder of Kate Sheedy.

In February 2022, Bellfield confessed to the 1996 hammer murders of Lin Russell and her daughter Megan.

Michael Stone was convicted of these killings in 1998 but had maintained his innocence.

Bellfield has also admitted to the murder of a woman called Judith Gold in North London in 1990, and has been questioned over the killing of student Elizabeth Chau, who vanished in April 1999 in Ealing, West London.

After claiming responsibility for Lin and Megan's killings in a letter Bellfield then denied he was the killer, however, it was reported in April 2023 that he had signed a confession.

The Criminal Cases Review Commission, which can order re-trials, is examining his confession.

Bellfield has been questioned in prison over further unsolved crimes.

He will never be eligible for parole or allowed to be released.

How did Levi Bellfield meet his girlfriend?

As The Sun reported, Bellfield was introduced to his future wife by the Yorkshire Ripper.

Ripper Peter Sutcliffe was friends with the woman who Bellfield saw a picture of when helping to tidy Sutcliffe's cell.

Bellfield asked Sutcliffe if he could be put in touch with the woman after seeing her photo and began writing to her before sending gifts and poems.

The two then began speaking on the phone before she visited him at Frankland jail in County Durham.

A source told The Sun: "What people don't realise is that the woman was friends with Sutcliffe for years before he died, although there was no romance between them."

Bellfield was caught groping the woman under the table during one of her visits in March 2022.

Sources insisted the groping was consensual but Bellfield was stripped of privileges and restricted to closed visits through a screen afterwards.

Is Levi Bellfield getting married?

In June 2023 The Sun revealed that Bellfield had been granted his wish to wed in jail after prison bosses conceded he would win a human rights case.

Bellfield is said to have threatened legal action to tie the knot behind bars and pleaded discrimination after he was banned from having an engagement ring.

News of Bellfield's engagement was first reported in 2022.

Bellfield sparked outrage after it was revealed he got down on one knee and proposed to his lover in front of stunned prison staff.

The woman received a ring from the killer and had also bought Bellfield a ring but he was not permitted to wear it.

Many official figures spoke out against the union and were hoping to prevent the marriage.

But Bellfield then won a bid to be granted up to £30,000 in legal aid after his lawyers cited the European Convention on Human Rights and the 1983 Marriage Act.

Ministers have vowed to change the law to prevent prisoners on whole-life terms from marrying but it will not come in time to prevent Bellfield being wed.

Ex-Metropolitan Police officer Michael Hames called Bellfield's win "ridiculous" and "wrong on many levels".

He said: "How can human rights be used to justify this when he took away the human rights of innocent girls and women?

"This makes a nonsense of the law, and the sooner it is changed the better."

Bellfield also demanded video calls with his bride-to-be and the right to have his picture taken with her.
