He and the girl performed sex acts on each other when she was 16 and 17.

Stephenson, now 32, also took a topless photo of her while she was asleep, the court heard.

Ex-PM Mr Cameron’s daughter Nancy, 12, now attends the girls’ state school.

Stephenson had taught his victim maths GCSE but did not teach her in sixth-form when the relationship began. They started messaging on Facebook before meeting up.

The court was told they did not have full sex and she did not perform one of the sex acts until she was 18.

She told cops last year and Stephenson, who was in his first teaching job, was arrested.

The unnamed victim is seeking psychological help.

Kevin Blount QC, defending, said Stephenson’s life was “in tatters” and his teaching career was over due to the mistake when he was younger.

Judge Alistair McCreath said: “If anybody had it fresh in his mind teachers should keep their hands off pupils it must be a newly qualified teacher above all others.”

Stephenson, of York, was due to wed last month but it was called off.

It is believed his fiancee is standing by him. The Southwark crown court judge read a character reference from her.
