RAIN ON ONE'S PARADE

UK weather forecast – Platinum Jubilee could see ‘hottest week of the YEAR’ – but weekend may be a washout

BRITS could swelter through the hottest day of the year before the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations - but there are fears the weekend may be a washout.

Temperatures next week could exceed the current 2022 high of 27.5C, as Brits prepare to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee at the start of June.

But early predictions show a low-pressure front from France dampening spirits with heavy downpours by Saturday of the Jubilee weekend.

British Weather Services senior meteorologist Jim Dale said the heat could "ramp up" in the days before Brits mark the Queen's 70 years on the throne.

He said: “I think as we approach that weekend it might well ramp up... on the run into that weekend we might see something that’s a little bit warmer – maybe even very warm."

Although the population will probably step outside to celebrate the Queen's reign on Thursday June 2 whatever the weather, we might experience a turn for the worse on the Saturday or Sunday.

Jim added: "It looks as if the South is at risk of some heavy rain coming out of France.

"It’s early days but that kicks in fairly quickly across the course of that weekend, so it might well be the Saturday or the Sunday."

Brits are hoping for the glorious sunshine to return in time for festivities after cooler temperatures this week.

Rainfall is set for the next few days and temperatures this weekend will only peak at 24C - relatively balmy compared the Tuesday's record-breaking 27.5C.

So everyone is hoping for a brighter forecast on the lead up to Jubilee street parties, barbecues and picnics.

A star-studded concert at Buckingham Palace will kick off festivities, with the band Queen aptly opening the royal gig.

Residents across the UK will also be coming together for street parties - one of the best ways to get to know your neighbours.

However, the celebrations could be overshadowed by tube strikes that coincide with the busy bank holiday.

So to make the most of the mega four day weekend, The Sun Online has narrowed down the best Jubilee events across the country.

You could visit a food festival at Blenheim Palace, see the Queen's horses in Newmarket, or have a royal themed afternoon tea.

Or, what better place to visit to mark the Queen’s historic reign than the place she calls home?

Windsor Castle would make a majestic break for the weekend and will be heaving with Jubilee celebrations.
