Mother slams school after her 12-year-old was told her skirt was distracting to boys

A FURIOUS mum has told how her 12-year-old daughter was publicly shamed for wearing a shirt deemed 'too short' for school - as it would distract boys.
Suzie Webster was incensed when told she needed to bring in a change of clothes for daughter Reese Franyo because her mid-length denim skirt was more appropriate for 'clubbing' than class.

Instead of taking the comment lying down, the mother-of-three headed for a showdown with the principal of Moultrie Middle School in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
Suzie said her daughter shouldn't have been 'humiliated' in front of her classmates and added young girls shouldn't be taught that they are responsible for the way boys behave.
In a Facebook last week that has now gone viral, Suzie wrote Reese wore the outfit - a denim A-line skirt with buttons paired with a school T-shirt - to school that day.
She told how she had worn the exact same outfit to school "several times" before without any comments.
However, that day, Reese's art teacher called her out in the hallway for a word, where she was surrounded by other kids, reports the .
She told the sixth grader that her skirt was too short, and she looked like she should 'be clubbing'.
She was then sent to the office, where she was made to call her mother and ask her to bring a pair of pants for her to change into.
So the angry mum did show up to Reese's school, where she told the principal, Mr. Cumberback, just how ludicrous she found the whole situation.
It was then the principal took out a ruler to measure Reese's skirt, checking whether it was 5" or less from her knee as the school dress code requires.

As it turns out, Reese's skirt was, actually, dress code compliant, exactly 5" from her knees.
"However, at this point she was so embarrassed that she asked to change into her pants (trousers) and told him she would not wear the skirt again,"Suzie said.
"Reese apologised numerous times and was clearly feeling like she did a bad thing wearing the skirt I BOUGHT FOR HER, which just killed me.
"We spent weeks looking for shorts and skirts long enough to be appropriate and this skirt is the exact same length as the "uniform" skirts I bought at Old Navy.
"Yet suddenly she was made to feel trashy because according to her teacher and authority figure, she looked like she belonged in a club!"
Suzie said that the worst part of all was the principal's reasoning for why Reese's skirt length was so important to begin with.
He told her that it was "because boys at this age get very distracted by the girls and their appearance. So in order to control this, they needed to make sure the skirts were long enough, etc."
"This is the exact problem with society today," Suzie raged, pointing out her daughter shouldn't be made to feel like 'a bad girl' because 'boys can't control their dirty thoughts'.

Since Suzie shared the post on Facebook, she's received support from thousands of people, many of whom agreed that girls shouldn't be held responsible for boys' behaviour.
Hearing from others seems to have given Reese a renewed sense of confidence and she decided to rewear the skirt again a few days later on her birthday.
That day, her mom wore a matching denim skirt and shared a photo of them online, joking that they were going 'clubbing' to celebrate.
