Airstrikes destroy Aleppo’s biggest hospital where Syrian boy who shocked the world was treated
Rubble reportedly fell on to intensive care patients
AIRSTRIKES have hit the largest hospital in the Syrian city of Aleppo, which treated the young air strike victim, whose shocked dust-covered image shocked the world.
The hospital, as well as a second, is out of action following the bombing raid, which sent rubble falling on to intensive care patients this morning.
The M10 hospital, in the rebel held area, was where youngster Omran Daqneesh was treated.
Pictures of the youngster confused and covered in dust following an airstrike shocked the world when they were published last month.
A second hospital known as M2 was also hit in the bombing campaign.
Mohammad Abu Rajab, a radiologist at the M10 hospital, told Reuters: "The warplane flew over us and directly started dropping its missiles on this hospital... at around 4 a.m.
"The rubble fell in on the patients in the intensive care unit."
Oxygen and power generators at the hospital were also hit and patients were transferred to another hospital in the area.
The airstrikes were part of Syrian government forces campaign to retake the city.
Hundreds of people have been killed in Aleppo since a ceasefire collapsed last week.
