Brits to sink 100million pints over Jubilee weekend with pubs open until 1am
AROUND 100 million pints will be sunk over the weekend as pubs stay open until 1am.
The four-day session is expected to provide a £105million boost for the hospitality industry.
And the economy will also benefit from an extra £29million in beer duty and VAT.
The British Beer and Pub Association wants the long bank holiday to be made permanent.
They want it to become a “Thank Holiday” — Britain’s answer to America’s Thanksgiving — to recognise the Queen’s extraordinary reign.
Chief exec Emma McClarkin said: “We’re hoping to see pub gardens filled with people showing support for two great institutions.”
