Urgent warning to parents after man ‘just out of prison’ approaches schoolgirls in the street

POLICE are urging parents to be on their guard after a man “just out of prison” has been approaching schoolgirls in the street.

Officers are investigating reports that the suspect approached the children in Trent Vale, Staffs, on Monday afternoon.

An eyewitness claimed that they saw him speaking to the girls before leaving the area in the direction of Lyme Brook.

A concerned dad warned: "This guy just followed a girl outside a house and told us he's just come out of jail.

“He refused to leave them alone. Please share and tell your kids to get inside."

Staffordshire Police confirmed inquiries into the incident were ongoing.

A spokesman said: "Officers were called to an address near Stone Road in Stoke-on-Trent at 5.05pm on Monday following reports of a suspicious incident.

"A witness observed a man approach two girls in the street.

"The man is understood to have talked to both girls before leaving the scene on foot in the direction of Lyme Brook. Inquiries are continuing."
