The business, set up by a local university graduate, mostly employs students - who presented the cafe's first customers with a dance performance and personalised service by the waitresses, whose job description also dabbing customers' mouths with serviettes.

Extraordinary images captured in the themed cafe - which was apparently inspired by similar establishments in Japan - show some customers looking extremely awkward, while others seem to thoroughly enjoy the bizarre experience.

However, there wasn't long to enjoy a cup of coffee with a side of cosplay - as the owner revealed the maid theme was a "pop-up" idea which only lasted for one day.

In fact, the entire spectacle was just a promotional tool for the cafe's grand opening - and it seems that despite the clear popularity, it will now be discontinued.
