Johnson, who was caged for six years in March for sex with a 15-year-old fan, will pick up £250,000 for every year he is locked up on child sex charges,

A source said: “Adam earned big money for years and had a good team of financial advisers.

“He’ll still be an extremely wealthy man when he is freed.”

The revelation comes after the 29-year-old had his bid to appeal against his child sex conviction kicked out over the summer.

His application to reduce the six-year jail sentence - which he is currently serving at HMP Moorland in Doncaster, South Yorks - was rejected as well.

His sister Faye tweeted: "Absolutely devastated. But I can assure every supporter I will never give up."

A Facebook appeal page she set up for Johnson was taken down after perverts posted messages supporting under-age sex.

Johnson, of Castle Eden, Co Durham, was jailed in March for sexual activity with a 15-year-old fan.

He met her when she was 14 and waited after matches to get his autograph.

They began swapping Facebook messages and he flirted with her even though he knew her age. He groomed her before meeting her twice in his Range Rover in January last year.

The second time they met they engaged in sexual activity just three weeks after his girlfriend Stacey Flounders, 26, gave birth to their daughter Ayla.

He admitted grooming the girl and kissing her but denied more serious sexual activity. He was found guilty by a jury at Bradford crown court.

Stacey dumped him during the trial, but has since visited him regularly in prison triggering speculated that they are back together.

His solicitor Paul Morris said: "He is obviously disappointed. Having carefully considered all of the information, we will be lodging renewed applications on conviction and sentence in the coming days."

A spokesman for the Court of Appeal said: "The applications for permission to appeal against sentence and conviction were refused.

"He has 14 days to make a renewed application to appeal."

Following the blow Johnson put his £1.9million mansion on the market - after all trace of the star was erased.

His photos and football shirts were removed from the walls of the lavish property — along with his England caps

A source said: "The buyer will obviously eventually know who owns the place, but it was thought better to keep that low key."

The house in Castle Eden, Co Durham, is set in 2.2-acre grounds and has five reception rooms, a games room, cinema room, gym and its own putting green.
