But their shameful reluctance to come off the fence is no surprise when you examine how deeply they are in hock to their union paymasters.
Not only has the party gratefully pocketed some £1million over the past five years from the wreckers who will bring the country to a grinding halt.
But their own leadership is horribly compromised by union cash.

His deputy Angela Rayner and shadow levelling-up secretary Lisa Nandy have stayed in hotels courtesy of union bosses.

While Sir Keir sits on his hands some of his Corbynite MPs will relish a return to Seventies-style chaos.
They yearn for the dark days of industrial unrest when Marxist union barons held the country to ransom.
