Around eight armed hooligans are seen sprinting from the truck's cab and from other motors in the apparently planned ambush.

Then more and more men arrive to join the attack, savagely clubbing the windscreen and doors with large bats.

They are seen opening the passenger door and striking with the weapons inside the vehicle.

On the other side, the driver appears to be dragged out and hit repeatedly as he lies on the road.

The two injured victims were being treated in hospital this evening.

West Midlands Police appealed for witnesses.

The force said: "We were called to a disorder with a group of about 15 men with weapons attacking a car in Alum Rock Road just after 12.05am today.

"Officers attended and found two men, aged 23 and 25, with injuries which fortunately are not believed to be life-changing.

"They were taken to hospital by paramedics for further treatment.

"The road was closed off as initial investigations were carried out including house-to-house enquiries and CCTV from the area being checked and retrieved.

"The vehicle has also been seized and will be forensically examined as enquiries continue."

The ambulance service said: "We were called at 0.14am to Alum Rock Road, Birmingham, following reports of an assault.

"An ambulance and paramedic officer attended who assessed and treated two men who had been injured.

"The two men were conveyed to hospital for further checks."

It comes two months after video showed a gang of thugs attacking a car with baseball bats in a traffic jam in the Balsall Heath area of Birmingham.

And in March, another video showed thugs armed with 2ft swords brawling in broad daylight, also in Balsall Heath.
