UK weather – Yellow warning for heavy rain & flooding as summer washout continues – but 30C scorcher is just days away

BRITAIN is set for yet more washouts as a yellow weather warning has been issued for heavy rain and flooding - but a 30C scorcher is only days away.

Southwest Scotland is set for a torrential downpour as residents have been warned homes and businesses could flood, the Met Office said.

The warning also extends to local bus and train services with travellers warned services are likely to be affected.

The Met Office added: "A period of heavy rain during Tuesday may lead to some minor flooding for southwest Scotland.

"Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer.”

A Yellow warning means that you should plan ahead thinking about possible travel delays, or the disruption of your day to day activities.

The counties of Wigtonshire, Kirkcudbrightshire, Ayrshire and Dumfriesshire all fall under the warning.

But the yellow warnings will quickly become a thing of the past as a 30C scorcher is set to sizzle Britain.

Wednesday and Thursday could see the mercury sizzle to these sweltering climes, with the south east of England expected to enjoy the best of it, according to forecasters WXCharts.

Meanwhile reported that by the weekend, a high pressure system pushing up from the south will see temperatures boil to the mid-20s in parts of the country.

As for Tuesday, unsettled weather is also expected outside of Scotland.

The northwest of England will see cloud and outbreaks of rain, some of which will be heavy, which are expected to dampen spirits on Tuesday.

This will then move slowly to other western areas throughout the day bringing persistent rain.

Northern Ireland is expected to have a wet and windy start to Tuesday but as the night draws in this will clear and dry up.
