Student’s iPhone 6 Plus ‘explodes’ in the middle of a classroom

Youngster claims his Apple mobile caught light and emitted a great cloud of thick black smoke

An iPhone has allegedly exploded in a classroom in the second Apple smartphone incident in the last week.

Darin Hlavaty, a student at Rowan College, New Jersey, claimed his iPhone 6 Plus caught fire whilst it was in his back pocket.

"Right as class was starting, my phone started smoking in my pocket. It was a fire.

""It was super hot so I flinched, grabbed it, threw it on the ground. Had to kick it because it was on fire."

However, the student did give one clue about why the phone went pop.

He added: "I've had it for about six months. The only thing that was wrong with it was a simple crack, but I don't see a simple crack causing it to blow up in my pocket."

Mobile phone batteries are dangerous if they have sustained damage.

So if you spot any significant crack in your blower, we'd advise you to get down the repair shop pronto.

The exploding iPhone claims have not yet been confirmed or verified

Earlier this week, one tech fan claimed an iPhone 7 ignited whilst in the post (pictured above).

A Reddit user called KroopTheSnoop shared images of a charred looking iPhone 7 Plus, which is the more expensive model with a a larger screen.

He claimed a co-worker bought the blower and was astonished when he noticed the phone and its packaging appeared charred.
