reported that Hunter O. Fulton, 29, has been charged with
second-degree murder,
mutilation of dead human bodies, possession of a deadly weapon with unlawful attempt, aggravated assault and battery.
Fulton attacked the victim, known as M.T.C, in the Gas Lite Motel room after he allegedly raped the woman at knifepoint.
The victim had earlier made a pass at her in a bar, it was reported.
“If your girlfriend would have gotten raped, you would have killed him too,” Fulton, 29, told LPD officers after his arrest on June 29.
Fulton told police that he was protecting his girlfriend.
Cops recovered a 'kill kit' containing multiple saws and a box of trash bags from near the bathtub.
The victim's body had cuts near the torso and elsewhere.
The couple had met the victim during a trip to Wyoming when he tried to flirt with the woman in a bar.
He then apologized to Fulton and his girlfriend and offered to buy them drinks, according to the case's affidavit.
The woman told investigators that she and Fulton then returned to their motel room and took cocaine.
Fulton left the room and the victim then entered and allegedly raped her.
When cops arrived at the crime scene they found Fulton sitting in his car and arrested him.
Fulton told police they could find all they needed in the motel room.
During an autopsy, M.T.C's death was ruled a homicide according to the affidavit.
Fulton is being held at the Albany County Detention Center on a $1million bond.
If convicted of second-degree murder, he could face a minimum of 20 years in prison to life.
