The person said that in the 30 some years she’s been working that has never happened.

Rochelle frantically headed over to her mum's house in Southfield but got no response from knocking on the door.

The cat wasn't running but oddly didn't see her car either and felt something was off.

She called police to the Avon Lane property but officers didn't feel it was necessary to force their way in - but Rochelle decided she had to take a look herself.

After finding a window that wasn't fully locked, she climbed in through the property with the help of a friend.

Inside, she made the horrifying discovery of her mum's lifeless body.

She said: "I just saw her laying in the bed with her arm dangling to the floor."

Emergency teams who attended the property said Patrese - who had no major health issues - had died of natural causes, but Rochelle said "no way".

The medical examiner's office however found bullet fragments in her skull the next day.

Only hours later, Rochelle's stepdad, 65, was found with a self-inflicted gun shot wound to the head in Detroit.

Cops are now investigating to see if the two deaths are linked.

Rochelle said the shocking loss has been extremely tough.

Patrese adored her grandchildren and loved gardening.

She said: "I call her the crazy cat lady gardener because she rescues all the cats in our backyard; all her coworkers have one, one I have one and didn't even like cats.
