Dad, 26, appears in court charged with murder after seven-week-old son dies from head injury

A DAD today appeared in court charged with murder after his seven-week-old son died from a head injury.
Abel-Jax Mailey was found unresponsive at a home in Burnley, Lancs, in November.
The baby was rushed to hospital before being transferred to Manchester Children’s Hospital for further treatment.
Tragically he couldn't be saved and died two days later on November 30.
A post-mortem found Abel-Jax died of a head injury.
His dad Oliver Mailey, 26, appeared at Blackburn Magistrates' Court today charged with murder.

He spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address during the short hearing.
Mailey was remanded in custody to next appear at Preston Crown Court tomorrow.
A man and woman were initially arrested on suspicion of assault and later on suspicion of murder in connection with the little boy’s death.
The woman was released with no further action.
A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "These are tragic circumstances and our thoughts remain with Abel-Jax's family at this sad and very difficult time.
"They continue to be supported by our officers."
