ISLAND KING
Electrician set to be crowned ceremonial king of tiny island off Cumbria’s coast
AN electrician is set to be crowned ceremonial king of a tiny island.
Aaron Sanderson will get beer poured on his head while wearing a helmet and holding a sword.
He will also have the power to “knight” those who benefit Piel Island.
Aaron, 33, beat off 200 global applicants to take over as landlord of The Ship Inn, half a mile off Cumbria’s Furness coast.
He also inherits the 170-year-old king title.
Aaron, a sparky at BAE Systems Submarines, in Barrow-in-Furness, spent holidays on Piel Island.
