Brit tourist, 53, drowns in swimming pool at four-star hotel in Majorca near party resort Magaluf
A BRITISH tourist has reportedly drowned in a hotel pool in the Majorcan resort of Palmanova.
The 53-year-old is said to have died after fainting while swimming in the pool of the four-star Globales Palmanova Hotel this afternoon.
Police and paramedics tried to revive the casualty after reaching the scene and taking over from lifeguards. but were unable to save him.
He was pronounced dead before his body was taken away for a post-mortem.
Civil Guard officers are now carrying out a routine investigation and will prepare a report for a local judge.
The alarm was sounded just after 4.30pm today.

Police could not be reached for official comment.
It is not known if the man who died was on his own at the time or was accompanied by family or friends.
He has not been named.
Globales Palmanova, a short walk from the party resort of Magaluf, is a four-star hotel which has pools for both adults and children.
Today's tragedy comes after a six year-old Brit boy Scout who drowned in a hotel pool close to the Love Island villa in Majorca was hailed as "the brightest star" by his heartbroken family.
