Paedophile who took 8,000 pics of unsuspecting kids cannot be prosecuted because they were ‘not indecent’

A PAEDOPHILE took 8,000 pictures of unsuspecting kids in the street but cannot be prosecuted because none were indecent, a court heard.

Police found the snaps, taken “around his neighbourhood”, in a raid on Martin Taylor’s home.

They also discovered 14,000 “revolting images” on his computer which he could be prosecuted for.

Taylor, 51, of Driffield, East Yorks, admitted six counts of possessing and making indecent images.

Asked why he had the pictures, Taylor told cops: “Because I like them.”

Phillip Evans, prosecuting, told Hull Crown Court, that acting on intelligence, Humberside Police raided Taylor's home and found found he had been taking pictures of local children.

Police officers had also found a folder "which contained 8,272 other photographs", the prosecutor said.

He said: "These were photographs the defendant had taken in and around his neighbourhood, and in and around Driffield where he lives."

He added: "None of them are indecent, so there is no legislation under which in that aspect of the case he could be prosecuted."

Judge Jeremy Richardson QC described the case details at Hull crown court as “some of the worst I have read” and adjourned sentence for a week, locking up Taylor in the meantime.

The judge said: "I'm not going to pass sentence today.

"I fairly confess, reading this material - it's some of the worst I have read - it has so affected me I don't consider it would be right for me to pass sentence today. I want to think very carefully about this.".

Taylor was remanded in custody for sentencing next Tuesday.
