SHOCKING pictures show a man with a huge dagger lodged in his skull.

The gruesome stabbing happened during a fight between two gangs.

The victim, named only as Mr Guan, managed to stay conscious despite losing a large amount of blood.

Passersby rushed to help him as he slumped to the ground while his attackers made their escape in Lianyungang City, China.

The daylight attack took place in full view of young children just outside the city's park.

Shocked witnesses called the emergency services who rushed him to Guannan County People's Hospital.

While Guan is expected to make a full physical recovery it is unclear if he has long-lasting neurological damage.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses and analysing CCTV footage to determine what exactly led to the vicious assault.
