Oil giant Shell’s £9.5billion profit made from Putin’s genocidal war is repugnant
Profits of doom
IT’S not hard to see why Shell fatcat Ben van Beurden couldn’t care less about your energy bill soaring to £4,000 a year.
It’s small change to him.
On £6.2million a year, he earns way over £4,000 in his sleep every night.
But the £9.5billion profit his oil giant has made, not via its own ingenuity but from Putin’s genocidal war, is repugnant.
So is his response: “It is what it is.”
A firm with a conscience would recognise that in these exceptional times it should hand back war profits to cut bills.

And that wallowing in money and rewarding comfortable shareholders — while broke Brits go hungry this winter shivering in homes they can no longer heat — is an obscenity for which Shell will never be forgiven.
It’s a similar story at British Gas owner Centrica, which has made £1.34billion — a fivefold rise — and whose boss Chris O’Shea is in line to pocket £4million working from home.
The Sun spoke yesterday of the damage done to capitalism’s image by lavish salaries at failing water monopolies.
The oil firms’ callous greed as millions face poverty is worse. It is grotesque.

Trans scandal
THE burning question over the NHS’s controversial Tavistock transgender clinic is why it wasn’t shut long ago.
For years the London trust has rushed into doling out powerful puberty- blocking drugs, their long-term neurological safety still unknown, to confused kids with adolescent troubles including fairly common doubts over their gender.
Doctors influenced by the trans lobby have been too hasty in deciding kids are genuinely transgender.
Often they are girls merely in thrall to online influencers who have made transitioning trendy.
Medics have apparently based judgments not on facts but on “progressive” politics.
Critics are branded bigots.
It is horrifying to imagine what life-changing damage the Tavistock has done.
Some patients, now adults, bitterly regret the path it sent them down.
The two units replacing it must have a wholly new mindset.
They must ignore campaigners, focus solely on the patients and examine ALL their problems . . .
Without leaping to conclude they were born the wrong gender, and potentially wrecking their life
Woke chokey
THE least of your worries if you’re banged up is guards using non-PC language.
But HMP Moorland had 18 complaints from lags in a year.
So it dutifully sent 16 staff to an “equality and diversity” workshop to re-educate them that banter has limits, even with convicts.
We didn’t realise wokery even has our jails in its grip.

But if you’re too much of a snowflake for a robust exchange with a guard, maybe crime isn’t for you.
No offence.
