Schoolgirl almost snatched in abduction attempt after being followed by white van

Parents advised to take extra precautions

PARENTS have been warned to be vigilant following reports a girl was nearly snatched on her way to school.

The young girl was on her way to a school in Penge, London, when a white van began to follow her.

The passenger reportedly approached the girl and attempted to abduct her.

Police were called to Harris Girls' Academy Bromley at 8am on Wednesday.

The school has written to parents and warned them to take extra precautions, has reported.

The letter said:  “There was an attempted abduction on Wednesday.

"It was reported that a young female was followed and subsequently approached.

"Please be vigilant with your daughters and use this as an opportunity to remind them of personal safety.

"If they are approached by a stranger, they should get away from the situation as quickly as possible and report the incident to an adult.

"If they are using public transport, they must tell the driver.

"In addition please remind your daughter, that when possible, to walk to school in groups and to seek immediate adult assistance in any crisis situation."

The suspect is described as caucasian, in his late 30s or early 40s, of average build with blonde hair and stubble.
