Killer clown ‘dragged man off the street and brutally assaulted him as he was walking home’
A MAN has been brutally attacked by a clown while walking home with police left to grapple with the sinister trend.
The victim was walking alone when he was punched and kicked by the creepy clown, decked out with a painted face with a black and brown wig and yellow jacket.
The silent attack, which took place in Bournemouth, Dorset about 11pm on Friday night, left the dazed victim suffering from a bloody nose, ripped jeans and grazes to his knees.
Police have now been called in to investigate the unprovoked attack.
Officers have also issued a stern warning to the clown - and any others who might be considering following the disturbing trend.
A Dorset police spokesman said: "We were called to reports of a man being attacked by a clown.
"Nothing was said by the offender who ran off after the incident."
Police said the terrifying clown was wearing a black and brown wig, a clown-painted face, a yellow jacket, and black trousers.
The victim declined medical attention.
Inspector Dave Kewley, of Bournemouth police, warned that any prankster caught dressed as a clown may face arrest for a public order offence.
He said: "While it obviously is not an offence to wear a costume in public we would ask people to think about their behaviour toward others and what impact it may have.
"Anti-social behaviour and any actions that cause fear and distress will not be tolerated and could constitute a public order offence.
"Incidents such as these may seem harmless but can be frightening to those who experience it."
The Bournemouth attack comes after the terrifying trend has swept from the US to the UK, with the attacks becoming increasingly concerning.
People who dressed up as clowns appeared on Good Morning Britain, with the pranksters slammed by Piers Morgan.
Circuses have even been forced to drop clowns from their performances with concerns that the recent trend has given clowns a bad name.
The craze has even sparked vigilantes targeting people dressed up as clowns, people attacking the pranksters in the streets and catching the attacks on video.
