A FORMER lover of Ched Evans' alleged victim today told how he believed she was "lying" about being raped by the footballer - but denied he was after the £50,000 reward.

The ex - who cannot be named - gave evidence in the retrial of Evans, 27, and told the court: "I believe she is lying."

The man was speaking for the defence to help clear the former Wales and Manchester City player.

He told the court about his sexual relationship with Evans' alleged victim saying she would also ask him to "f*** me harder".

He told Cardiff Crown Court he was aware of the £50,000 reward offered by Evans' supporters on the website ChedEvans.com.

Asked by defence barrister Judy Khan QC: "Why are you here?"

The man replied: "I believe she is lying."

Cardiff Crown Court also heard evidence from a man who knew the complainant for a number of years.

He told the jury the woman had gone home with him "two or three times" following a drunken night out.

On one occasion he said that the woman, woke up in the bed next to him the following morning and had no memory of what had happened.

He said: "She asked me if anything had happened the night before. It was like she didn't know nothing.

"I was surprised because I did not think she was that drunk.

"She seemed capable of making decisions."

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, said the sex between him and the woman was consensual.

Evans had earlier told the court he never spoke to his alleged rape victim before having sex with her - and said:"It wasn't really a time for conversation."

The Chesterfield player told jurors “it was a moment we all got caught up in” after denying raping the 19-year-old in a hotel room.

Cardiff Crown Court heard former Wales international Evans took a key to Room 14 before joining in sex with the young woman who says she was too drunk to remember anything.

Asked by prosecutor Simon Medland QC: "You didn't speak to her at all during the conversation of this episode did you?"

Evans replied: "It wasn't really a time for conversation. It was a moment we all got caught up in."

Mr Medland said: "Did you think to ask her whether she minded you to have sex with her."

Evans replied: "She asked me to perform oral sex on her."

Former Man City player Ched - who is accused of raping the 19-year-old waitress after joining a friend who took her back to a Premier Inn hotel - said he would "never hurt a girl".

He told the court: "I would never hurt a girl, I wouldn't do anything to harm a girl and I wouldn't perform oral sex on a girl who didn't ask me to."

Mr Medland asked: "Did you think at any stage for you to ask the woman if she minded having unprotected sex with you?"

Evans said: "It wasn't the right time. I wouldn't ask that question if I was having sex with anybody else.

"I wouldn't have sex with somebody without their consent. She consented to me when she asked me to perform oral sex on her."

Cardiff Crown Court has heard how the 19-year-old girl was taken to the Premier Inn hotel in Rhuddlan, North Wales, by his friend Clayton McDonald.

Former Port Vale player Mr McDonald met her in a kebab shop - then rang Evans from a taxi to say: "I've got a girl."

The court heard Evans and Mr McDonald both had sex with the girl. She has told the court she had no memory after believing her drink was spiked on a night out in May 2011.

The court heard she was too drunk to give consent for sex.

Ryan Roberts, the younger half-brother of Evans, told the court today he watched Mr McDonald and the woman having sex through a window.

Swansea University graduate Mr Roberts, who is now a qualified maths teacher, told the jury: "I could see Clayton behind her and they were having consensual sex."

Evans told how he stopped having sex with the girl when Mr McDonald left - then left through a fire escape.

He had previously been convicted of rape but the conviction was later quashed.

Evans told police that women "throw themselves at him" and that it is "part and parcel of being a footballer."

Evans, now playing for Chesterfield, denies rape.

The trial continues.
