UK weather: Met Office reveal exact date 30C sizzler to hit as Brits gear up for baking Bank Holiday

BRITAIN is set to sizzle over the Bank Holiday, with the Met Office predicting a 30C scorcher to round off the summer.

Taking to Twitter to provide the forecast for the week, Met Office experts predict that temperatures will rise steadily to a peak on Wednesday.

They say mid-week temperatures could shoot above 30C in some areas.

In fact, Britain is set to be a whopping 4C hotter than Mexico during the week.

Even if they don't get that high, 28C is forecast for London, while much of the South East will be in the high 20s.

Things will be cooler in the far North and West, with temperatures only hitting the high teens.

However, most of the country is set to see at least in excess of 20C in the coming week.

The forecast only extends to Wednesday, but should the temperature stay high, the weekend is set fair.

The lovely weather could last into the final bank holiday of the year (apart from Christmas and Boxing Day).

Nicola Maxey, from the Met Office, told The Sun Online: "Temperatures are not going to be as hot as we saw in July or earlier this month, but it looks like we're going to have a nice, settled warm spell for the end of the summer.

"There's certainly high indications at the moment that we're going to see high pressure build which could bring some more settled dry, sunny weather for parts of the country."
