I was stunned when I saw a Specsavers advert cartoon that looked just like me
A STUNNED Specsavers customer thought he was seeing double after picking up a leaflet at the opticians.
Joe Newman popped into his local branch and grabbed a ‘how to’ guide on contact lenses when he saw his cartoon doppelganger on the cover.
Joe, 32, told The Sun: “It’s like a glitch in the Matrix.
“It is scary how similar it was. It was like looking in the mirror.”
Joe, who had never been into a Specsavers before, took the leaflet to staff at the Cardiff branch to see what they thought, and amazingly, they didn’t see the resemblance.
Joe said: “I told him... ‘you should’ve gone to Specsavers, hun!’”

Joe’s mates reckoned the leaflets were customised but this wasn’t the case — he even asked his mum if she had flogged his picture to the opticians, but it wasn’t her either.
After various enquiries, Joe, who was recently made redundant from Opus energy, has no idea why they settled on the “unique” cartoon.
Joe, from Barry, South Wales, even took to Twitter jokingly asking for royalties.
A spokesperson for the opticians told The Sun: “At Specsavers we ask our illustrators to shut their eyes and picture the coolest people in the country… then draw them!
"Looks like Joe fits the bill. Congratulations Joe.”
Specsavers have now named the cartoon Joe in tribute to his real-life doppelgänger.
