Boy, 13, in ‘killer clown’ mask suffers head injuries after being hit by car on housing estate

A 13-YEAR-OLD boy wearing a clown mask was hit by a car and left with "serous injuries".

The boy was hit on a Southampton estate at about 6.40pm on Monday.

He was taken to hospital after confirmed to have wrist and head injuries.

The driver of the car was not hurt and the Daily Echo reported that police allowed them to continue with their journey after stopping.

Although this follows on from the "killer clown" craze which has seen people all over the UK donning clown masks and costumes and terrorising people, Hampshire Constabulary said they were not treating the incident as part of that trend.

No investigations have been launched and police do not think the boy was linked to a "killer clown" style attack.

Today it emerged a victim of a clown attack had fought back and punched the clown in the face.

Over the past weekend Thames Valley Police were called to 14 reports of people being intimidated or frightened by others dressed as clowns and Gloucestershire Police had six reports.

In South Wales Police attended numerous reports as police are reporting more and more sightings and in Leicestershire, one woman was scared so badly she went into early labour as the craze continues to baffle much of the UK.

The craze to dress up like a clown and scare people is causing chaos in the UK, as sightings of chilling circus acts brandishing weapons have become more common over the past month.

Police have warned that people could be arrested if they celebrate Halloween by dressing up like a killer clown.

Drivers in Manchester were startled to see two clowns running at their cars on Sunday, and a mum-of-two was left with terrified children after one jumped on her car.

And on Monday morning, an Instagram account promised 20 clowns with knives would descend on Essex schools this week.

Yesterday cops were called to a school where parents had been asked to collect their children after a clown approached a child.

Youngsters at a birthday party were left terrified when clowns stormed the group of girls celebrating.

Jobless 18-year-old, Connor Jones, was one of the first to be charged and punished as the unusual craze grips the UK.

He was fined £90 and received a public order offence on his criminal record.

A criminologist has revealed why people act differently when they put on costumes such as a clown mask, as the 'killer clown' craze spreads.

The craze has even got so out of control that popular circus, Zippos, has announced its shows will no longer feature clowns.

The craze has become so frustrating for some, that they have formed Clown Hunter groups on Facebook to try and patrol the streets.

Yesterday, a group of pranksters appeared on Good Morning Britain to defend dressing up as clowns and scaring people, but distanced themselves from the people taking part in the current trend.

And a 10-year-old boy told the story of how he was chased by a person dressed as a clown and badly bruised after a rock was thrown at him.
