Serial killer obsessed girl, 15, guilty of attempted murder after stabbing friend over social media messages
Teen stabbed her friend with a kitchen knife causing a minor wound to her chest
A 15-YEAR-OLD who was "obsessed with serial killers and school shootings" has been found guilty of attempted murder after stabbing her best friend at their school.
A jury at Winchester Crown Court heard that the pupil, aged 14 at the time, lured her victim to a quiet corner of their school grounds with the promise of giving her a present before stabbing her on April 25.
The defendant, now 15, who had researched fatal stab wounds, denied intending to kill her victim but had admitted wanting to hurt her.
She had previously pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding and possession of a bladed article on school premises.
The defendant, wearing a white shirt, closed her eyes as the verdict was announced and fought back tears as she was led from the court.
The judge, Mr Justice Fraser, adjourned the case for sentencing on a date to be set and ordered a psychiatric report and pre-sentence reports to be prepared on the defendant.
He told her: "You are going to have to come back to be sentenced in a number of weeks. There are certain reports I need and one of them is a psychiatric report."
Before the attack the teenager asked her friend to close her eyes before pulling a knife out of her bag and lunging at her.
The victim escaped with a minor injury to her chest because she opened her eyes at the moment of the attack and managed to pull away and run off.
The girl had admitted that she had been fascinated with serial killers and had even produced a fashion GCSE project based on American Ted Bundy.
She had also planned to slit the throats of her mother and brother while they slept and, the court heard, she had produced a journal, which she later burned, with a plan for a school shooting which included a "kill list" of 60 people.

The defendant told the court she had planned to do something "sensational" so that she would "stand out" from others.
James Newton-Price QC, prosecuting, said: "The defendant was for a period of time obsessed with serial killers and school shootings and the notoriety that attaches to those who commit those crimes."
Mr Newton-Price had also told the court: "She had even thought about how to kill her own mother and brother and she discussed how to do so in the two or three weeks leading up to an incident in which she stabbed her friend at school.
"It seems that she decided to kill her best friend; she had already researched online how to kill swiftly and effectively with a knife."
The defendant suspected that her victim was responsible for creating false social media accounts, including a Tumblr blog, using her identity.
The defendant said the posts on Instagram and the 4chan forum caused her to be sent "rude and suggestive" messages from strangers, which only stopped when she deleted all her social media accounts.
The victim has denied being involved in creating the accounts.
The defendant said: "It made me really, really unhappy. That was when I started doing self-inflicted wounds, I didn't talk to anyone about it.
"It makes me nervous, gives me butterflies in my stomach, I remember how much it hurt that someone would do it. I felt I couldn't trust anyone, I couldn't talk to anybody as they could be a possible person who did it."
