ROCKER Rod Stewart rubs shoulders with The Queen hours after receiving his knighthood from the Duke of Cambridge.
The veteran singer bowed courteously as he met her maj at a reception following the ceremony at Buckingham Palace.
Accompanying the 71-year-old at the do in the Royal Academy of Arts, London was Rod’s wife Penny Lancaster, 45, who wore a figure-hugging leopard-print frock.
After receiving his knighthood in recognition of his services to music and charity Sir Rod said he wished his parents could have been there to see him as he was congratulated by the Duke of Cambridge.
Receiving the honour left him "on cloud nine", he said.
He said of meeting William: "We talked about music and he said 'It's great that you're still going' and I said: 'I have to - I've got eight children!'.
"He congratulated me on my long career - and I said how happy this made me. I just wish my mum and dad had been here to see it."
