Imran's outraged dad has now spoken out over the attack in Essex, saying he was concerned the gang might strike again.

The 40-year-old said: "It's horrifying that this could happen.

"Me and my wife can't let our son walk home alone now."

Imran's mum, Shabana Kashem, 36, branded the terrifying drama "every parent's worst nightmare".

She said: "It's horrible, I couldn't believe it.

"I'm very reluctant to let Imran out of my sight at all now."

The little boy has now gifted his prized Xbox game console to the boy who helped scare off the gang of thugs on Wednesday October 5.

The 11-year-old said: "He's my friend now.

"He shouted at the men when they were telling me to get into the car - and they drove off.

"When I had a bad dream about them coming back, he was still there shouting at them."

Dad Suhel said the family also visited the brave 12-year-old's house to say thank you.

He said: "I told his dad how thankful we are that he helped us. I told him what he did was very brave."

The family said they have now been overwhelmed by support from the community.

Mum Shabana said: "We have had so much support.

"Everybody has been telling us how shocked they are.

"We have never heard about anything like this happening here.

"We don't want to scare people, but people need to know that it could happen to anyone."

She said it was important for stranger danger to continue to be highlighted.

A Met Police spokesman said: "Enquiries continue to trace the car and the men involved.

"Patrols in the area have been increased to provide reassurance to local people and families."
